Alternative to the Christmas tree

Several years ago, we decided not to buy a Christmas tree anymore. The children are grown and there is still the space problem. But it was nothing without it. One day I was with a friend at an Advent exhibition. There they had decorated obelisks for the garden with an electric lighting. Then she came up with the idea that you could also decorate and decorate it with bullets.
Said, done, we both now have such an obelisk and is beautifully decorated each year.
With electric lighting, balls, angel hair and whatever else comes to mind. Our obelisk is straight, therefore needs much less space than a tree, does not need and costs only once the purchase (available in the hardware store). We have such a great alternative to the "tree".
It's clear to me that many would never give up a tree, but maybe it's a viable alternative for one or the other.
