Alternative to voluminous terry bath towels

More space in suitcase and bath bag: alternative to voluminous bath towels made of terry cloth

On a beach holiday, bath towels made of terry take unfortunately a lot of space in the suitcase away, ditto in the bath bag for the pool. In addition, they weigh a lot (excess luggage), dry quite slowly on a lounger and leash (and if they are still wet after bathing, they also weigh a lot in the bath bag).

A significantly space-saving, faster-drying alternative are cloths made of normal COTTON FABRIC. The dry in warm Gefielden the body just as well, but are on the lounger / bath mat much faster dry again than a terry towel - and also wet on the way home from the outdoor pool lighter than wet terry towels.

On holiday, they can also easily be washed by hand.

Bath towels made of cotton can be easily and cheaply made yourself, either from new cotton fabric of the role (the 60 ° C wash tolerates) or used bed linen / sheets from the closet. Last has the advantage that the fabric has already been washed a few times and already sucks better as a new substance.

"Student version":
Paint the desired shape with a pencil (straight to the fabric structure) and cut it straight 1: 1 with a scissors (!). If you cut with it exactly, the edge becomes so useful, because cotton does not really fringe big. (My first "bath towel" has been holding this way for over 20 years and it only stands out on closer inspection that the edge is not reversed.)

With fringed edge:
If you do not have a sewing machine, textile glue will work. But then you need a lot and that goes into the money; the change tailoring around the corner is probably cheaper. It is nice, if you sew the edge a little wider (over 3 cm) with the sewing machine (s) lets.

"Luxury version", for slipping on loungers:
For cutting, draw a good 90 cm in width (+ addition for the edge to be sewn in) and add 30 cm at the top (+ add for the edge). Then sew off the edge and then sew on the rollover on the left. Thus, the cloth can be put over the headboard of the bed, slips less and does not fly away in the wind. On the beach you can fill in the rollover some sand and fix it. (If you still make a Fußteilüberschlag, flies at the beach nothing more.)

If the cloths are made of new material, you should wash them at least 1x to at least 60 ° C, possibly put once in the dryer. The more frequently they are used / washed, the more cuddly and absorbent they become.
