Beautiful amaryllis in the vase

The 3in1 tip for beautiful Amaryllis / Ritterstern / Hippeastrum in the vase: Because now is time again for the beautiful Hippeastrum from the Amaryllis family, which most of us call Amaryllis or Ritterstern. The breeders succeed in ever more beautiful flowers in beautiful colors and often enough quite a low-priced stem to decorate a room. The very large flowers can sometimes cause problems and therefore the customers in the nursery of our family many years ago, the following tips:

Picture 1a and picture 1b: In the case of heavy flowers, it may happen that the stem, which is hollow inside, kinks. This can easily be prevented by inserting a suitably cut bamboo stick or a straight orchid rod. Take care that it is not too long.

Picture 2: The cut edges of amaryllis fray slightly. Incidentally, one recognizes in heavily frayed copies, that they have been waiting for customers in the shop for a long time, so then better resort to other copies. Always cut the cut edges fresh and smooth after purchase, dry briefly and wrap with a little Tesafilm. Then right in the vase with it.

Finally, the vase should be tip-proof. Simply place some stones inside the vase and secure the amaryllis so that they do not tip over. Would be a pity.

And one last extra tip: as always, the flower water should be renewed every second day at the latest. Otherwise, the flower water rots and regular renewal is still the best remedy. Incidentally, in the remedies from the floristry is mainly sugar, which should delay the formation of decay. I wish you a lot of fun with the beautiful Amaryllis.
