Bring chestnuts to germinate
Now we can collect chestnuts. How nice it is to make one or more germinate and to see a chestnut plant in your own garden next spring. That's great fun for kids!
I've been smart, how to do something like this:
Put the chestnut in water for two days. Then plant in a large pot and put it quietly outside. Best protected a bit, at the house. You can even do that if you only have a front yard.
Otherwise on the basement stairs. Water now and then - next spring, a small plant will come to light. Frost does not hurt - on the contrary.
Of course you can put the pot in the garden if you have one. In a "cozy" place, maybe you have a hut there or a big tree.
I brought a chestnut from the garden of my deceased parents from Franconia. I was standing in front of her old house, which does not belong to me anymore - I bent over the fence and took the one chestnut from the tree my mother had planted. And of course I put my heart in it, that out of this chestnut a tree grows in my garden.
