Brussels sprout casserole with meatballs

ingredients

For about 3 to 4 people:

  • 500 g Brussels sprouts
  • 500 g minced meat mixed
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 onion
  • bread crumbs
  • Pepper, salt, nutmeg, lots of fresh parsley
  • 1 tbsp grated spicy cheese

For the bechamel sauce

  • 30 g butter
  • 50 g of flour
  • Add milk (amount as needed, to the consistency of the sauce
  • Pepper, salt, nutmeg, to taste

preparation

  1. Clean the Brussels sprouts and cook in boiling salted water for 5 minutes, drain and set aside. Season the minced meat with the ingredients mentioned - except the onion - and mix well. Dice the onion and lightly brown in a hot pan with the addition of a little butter and then also mix with the minced meat.
  2. Form the finished mince into dumplings and set aside until further use.
  3. Now the bechamel sauce is made, the butter is melted and then the flour is added. Mix the mixture well with the whisk and then add the milk in several batches, whisking it until a creamy sauce has formed. Now season with pepper, salt and nutmeg and stir well again.
  4. Now 2 to 3 tablespoons of bechamel sauce are spread on the bottom of the casserole dish and then the Brussels sprouts and meatballs are layered evenly. The remaining bechamel sauce is now spread over the cabbage-vegetable-bed and the grated cheese comes as a conclusion on top of the casserole.
  5. In the meantime, the oven is preheated to 160 to 170 degrees and the casserole can bake in the oven and then about 40 minutes.
  6. Please look it up from time to time, not that the surface gets too dark. If necessary. Reduce the heat slightly or cover the mold with aluminum foil.
