Build small animal enclosures cheaply and quickly

Who does not know that: Purchase cages for guinea pigs and rabbits are expensive, unwieldy and usually also really ugly. Here are some tips on how to build a BEAUTIFUL enclosure for your rodents FAST, CHEAP and without much effort:

For 3 guinea pigs, we recommend an area of about 1.5 square meters. They can run around enough, avoid each other, and you get all the important things (houses, bowls, ..) under. For rabbits, 2qm per wobble nose is recommended, thus preventing stereotypical behavior from boredom (bars, things go around, fighting among the rabbits).

Who wants to have it VERY FAST:

materials:
Grid elements (you get in the trade or on the Internet)
Wax towel or thick foil

Join the Gitterlemente, inferior wax table cover, and outside tie up to the grid (small holes pierce and fix with wire). FINISHED!

If you want to have a bit more PRETTY:

materials:
Coated chipboard from the hardware store (for guinea pigs at least 30cm high, for rabbits rather 50-60cm), each about 50cm long.
If you want, you can replace part or all of the chipboard with PLEXIGLAS, you always look good into the enclosure.
Panzertape (this silver, you can now get it in other colors.)
Velcro closures or double-sided adhesive tape
Wax towel or thick foil

Before you start to build, you can paint the panels to match the room, preferably with TOYCOAT (this is non-toxic). It does not matter if the children draw something on it, or if they only paint them in color, the enclosure fits wonderfully into the room.

Place 2 plates each, and stick them together on the short (guinea pig) or long (rabbit) side so you can unfold them. How to proceed with all the plates until you have finished the enclosure (you can build wonderful around corners). The tape can be inside or outside as desired.

Outside at the bottom you either attach the double-sided tape or the Velcro tape (you can also attach it inside) to which the wax tablecloth is attached. FINISHED!

Advantages: both types of fencing are folded together in the middle, hardly use space in storage, and they are easier to clean than kitter cages.

In addition, they offer more space for the animals, you can see the rodents not only through the grid (jaw feeling for both sides) and they just look better.

WARNING: both enclosure types are not supported from above. Therefore, they are not suitable for households with dogs, cats and ferrets or for outdoor use.
