Buttermilk and mashed potatoes with crispy onion and bacon cubes

A homemade mashed potatoes is always something very fine. Try this variant:

You need 1 kilo of semi-hard boiled potatoes
500 ml buttermilk
1 tsp salt
a pinch of nutmeg, freshly grated
1 tbsp butter

----

3 large onions, diced
150 g of bacon in cubes
----

That is how it goes:

The potatoes are even cooked and drained, allowed to evaporate well. It is best to clamp a dishcloth between the pot and the lid. Then put the pot on a wooden board, take the rammer in one, the cup of buttermilk in the other hand and pours slowly while pounding the potatoes, the buttermilk in the pot.

When the milk has been well prepared, fold in the butter and spices and beat lightly with a wooden spoon.

Cover it and keep warm - if necessary - wrapped in a towel in bed.

I almost recommended: it is best if someone is in it - but of course I do not say that.

Now the bacon is fried in a pan, when it starts to become glassy, add the onion cubes.
If both are brownish, add a little pepper.

Now is served: A dash of mashed potatoes, which tastes slightly sourish through the buttermilk, then the bacon-onion cubes are distributed. Tasty are tomatoes and pieces of cucumber.

A delicious main course, not expensive and - apart from the bacon - healthy.
