Car rental instead of taxi

Since the last pay rise (often with the introduction of the minimum wage justified) is taxi driving almost luxury, but not always can or wants to avoid it.

Here's a tip for those who do not want to (or can) do without the "taxi" ride, but would still like to save a bit:

There is a (unfortunately lesser known) alternative that makes chauffeur driving affordable again: the radio rental car! In more and more cities you will find next to the / the normal taxi center / s also one (or even more) radio rental car center / s.

The difference to the taxi lies in different points:

  1. Rent a radio car i.d.R. at a cheaper rate as they are not tied to taxi fare rules.
  2. With the radio car the passenger pays only the pure kilometer price, waiting times (for example in the traffic jam) are not calculated.
  3. The driver of a radio rental car, as well as a taxi driver, must have a passenger ticket.
  4. Car rental companies have no "bird" (ie taxi sign) on the roof.
  5. Car rental companies are not allowed to wait at taxi stops for customers or take so-called "Winkemänner" with them, but must always be ordered via a telephone order from the customer.
  6. Driver of a radio rental car and taxi drivers can issue receipts for one trip.
  7. On request, drivers of radio rental cars as well as taxi drivers are happy to help with luggage.

The service is in the radio rental car quite comparable to a taxi, but the saving potential is not insignificant. So you pay, for example in Dusseldorf at a distance of 7 km by taxi depending on traffic between 22, - and 25, - EUR, with the radio car this route costs a constant 15, - EUR.

This simply as a savings tip (perhaps also in view of the approaching holiday season and the question "how do we get all the luggage to the airport?").
