Chocolate biscuit chocolates (without egg) - Cold dog

Total preparation time: 30 min.

As a kid I loved Cold Dog, this chocolate biscuit cake. But now a whole piece of this cake is always too powerful for me. Here is the idea for cold dog as chocolate biscuit chocolates (without egg).

1. Anyone who already knows a recipe for cold dog:

  1. Make the chocolate mass as usual.
  2. Crumble the biscuits and mix them with the chocolate mixture
  3. Make sausages from the chocolate biscuit mass (about as thick that you can grasp them with your thumb and forefinger).
  4. Wrap the sausages in aluminum foil, parchment paper or plastic wrap. Paper or foil can also be helpful in sausage-forming
  5. Put in the refrigerator for two hours
  6. Slice cold sausages and as "chocolate salami" serve

Since the "sausage slices" are very greasy, the following processing helps

Chocolates form

  1. From the sausage slices form balls and roll in the remaining biscuit crumbs
  2. Place in chocolates and keep cool.

2. Anyone who does not know a recipe for cold-dog, can take this:

ingredients

  • 125 g soft butter
  • 100 g of sugar
  • 1 pck of vanilla sugar
  • 2 eggs

(I took 4 tablespoons of swollen chia seeds instead of the eggs, that is about ½ teaspoon dry chia seeds + 4 tablespoons water, as in picture 2 of the tip chia seeds as an egg substitute)

  • 1 tbsp port (if children eat orange juice instead)
  • 100 g of cocoa
  • 125 g of butter biscuits

preparation

  1. Crumble the cookies and put them aside
  2. Stir butter until foamy
  3. Add sugar, vanilla sugar and stir until foamy
  4. Add eggs or swollen chia seeds and stir until foamy
  5. Add port or orange juice and stir until foamy
  6. Stir in the cocoa
  7. Fold in biscuit crumbs

Then continue as described above from 1. point 3.

3. Variants:

For the classic cold dog taste, the above recipe is recommended. There are now the best chocolate variations in the shop to buy, chocolate with sesame seeds, with salt, with pepper, with chili ... If you just want to try if that's something for your own taste, rolling the balls in appropriately spiced crumbles. As streusel own besides biscuit crumbs:

  • sesame
  • desiccated coconut
  • crumbled sesame salt sticks
  • colorful sprinkles
  • ground or chopped almonds / nuts
  • brittle
  • Crumble a few pepper chips or peanut flakes under the biscuit crumbs

When it tastes good, you can also vary the cookies next time. I think I'll try speculoos or replace the biscuits (at least in part) with pretzel sticks. As a child, I liked butter pretzels with cocoa as an afternoon vesper. The ingredients would be here then.
