Clean toothbrushes properly

On most toothbrushes, there is a climate for bacteria that even surpasses toilet brushes: 3x daily in warm wet food rests, in between in a warm, humid room without draft, often even exchange by contact with other brushes.

The manufacturers of toothbrushes therefore advise to regularly replace the toothbrushes. I would probably, too, if I lived on toothbrush sales.

But there are also ecological reasons to clean toothbrushes, but the question is how.

The methods of disinfecting kitchen sponges and busts are unsuitable for toothbrushes, because in the microwave or with hot water, unpleasant heat dissolves plasticizers from the plastic and then distributes them into the oral cavity. Certainly not dramatic, but suboptimal.

In many households, washing machines (dishwashers) run almost daily and their heat (over 50 + C) and detergents kill bacteria without attacking the material of toothbrushes. It is important that the machine does not run in energy-saving mode with reduced temperature.
On this occasion, it should be remembered that it can also kill and remove the mites of hairbrushes and combs as well.

So once a week, when the dishwashing machine is running anyway, clean the toothbrushes, hair combs and combs with it.
