Compost citrus fruits
Compost worms fascinate me again and again, because they decompose in a short time all organic material, even dog waste, blackberry thorns, charcoal remains or killed by cats (the neighbor) mice and birds. Only the peels of citrus fruits remained lying and started to stink.
Citrus fruits defend themselves against plant and animal enemies with aggressive essential oils, even when they are "dead" and only their shells are left. So you should solve these essential oils from the shells. This works well if the peels are cut relatively small (at least quarter oranges and lemons) and heated in the microwave for 2-3 minutes (preferably spread flat on a plate).
Then rinse briefly (also remove any sprays). Alternative: scald the minced dishes with boiling water. If the shells do not smell intense anymore, they can be composted well. Buy now
