Construction foam against creaky wooden floors

My parents live in an old building with old plank floor. The constant creaking when we ran over it got on our nerves. My dad got the following, helpful tip:

Since there is a free space under the floorboards that causes the floorboards to move and rub against each other when dripping, it must be filled. You need a drill and construction foam for this. Depending on how big the surface is, you make one or more holes with the drill. You have to try the distance yourself. In this one squirts then the construction foam. The amount, depending on how big the cavity is, you have to try it yourself. The foam then expands, becomes hard and gives the grip. No hall creaks anymore.
