Continue to use pumpkin seeds

In the pumpkin time fall when cavy for grimaces, cooking soup, etc., all sorts of pumpkin seeds, which are too bad to throw away!

I release it first by hand, without water o. Ä. from the adherent pulp. Just slide through your fingers, enough to strip off the threads.

I then dry a part of it for a long time, then pack it (possibly separated according to variety) and keep it labeled, until next spring.


From the end of April, beginning of May, the cores then come into the water overnight, then with the pointed side down, about 2 cm deep in a small flowerpot with soil and wait, in the house on the windowsill, until it is warm enough outside and they are vigorous enough to be planted out (in northern Germany usually after the Eisheiligen, so in the middle of May).

The other (much larger part) I toast in the dry pan, then crack the shell with his teeth, abzupulen and enjoy the core! Delicious and healthy! You can also use the oven to roast (if necessary, bake residual heat from the pumpkin seeds), simply place the cores in a position on the plate (possibly with baking paper) and wait. In between, simply snack (be careful, fingers do not burn!)

Oh yes - from the pulp, I prefer to make puree, with which I stock up and then I use for pumpkin seeds. A little more sweet is added.

And the most important: Do not forget neighbors and friends! So'n pumpkin is sometimes quite big, and sharing is fun too!
