Custom made evening dress
Buying an evening gown on Ebay - can easily be one size bigger - if you're unsure. Even evening dresses are often needed, but offered in brand new condition, because many people garbage evening dresses after a few festive occasions again.
Change with the change tailor, because each of us somehow deviates from the catalog dimension - e.g. I'm narrow at the back and need a bit more space in front.
You can see the difference and the effort is worthwhile, especially for a special occasion. It is an individual arithmetic example, but one often comes to an extravagant dress and since many change tailors are cheap, it is cheaper than some new dress off the shelf.
Basically, it is easier for the seamstress to cut something off the dress than to insert a piece of fabric at a pinching point. Therefore, when raising with the dress size, be quiet generous.
