Decorating glass plates with napkin technique

Beautiful glass plates can be quite easily designed with napkin technology. I made the plate in the photos myself.

You need:

  • glass dish
  • Napkin or rice paper
  • napkins glue
  • One-component varnish
  • 2 different acrylic paints (one as basecoat which then rips, one as topcoat, which determines the color of the cracks)
  • varnish
  • Liquid Metal (to beautify the edge)

Operation:

Glue only the top layer of the napkin or the rice paper with the motif down on the underside of the glass plate.

After drying, apply the first coat (top coat). After drying, apply a coat of varnish and, after further drying, apply a second coat of paint.

Finally, cover with water-based varnish and beautify the edges with Liquid Metal (best with Stupfpinsel).

The plate is then washable, but not suitable for the dishwasher.
