Dog stinks: remove slurry smell

Has your dog ever rolled into manure? Yummy, right? And you can bathe the dog with shampoo until it falls over, the stench remains! Exactly THAT happened to us, 3 days before a dog show, to which I had reported my Wolfsspitzhündin, because I still missed an assessment for the breeding permission. It was really an important date for us.

Normally you bathe the dog a maximum of 2 weeks before the exhibition the last time, otherwise the coat is too soft and the "hairstyle" then does not fit properly. Since three-weather taffeta is also not allowed, so you do without the bathing shortly before the exhibition usually. But this time I really could not take any consideration.

So the dog was put into the bathtub and tidy shampoo - of course, a mild, fragrance-free. But this had - as mentioned above - zero effect. What to do? I called a friendly breeder and got from her a really unusual tip: tomato juice was the drug of choice.

After the shampoo was rinsed, I distributed plenty of tomato juice on the affected areas and massaged it just like a shampoo. After a short reaction time, I washed out the juice.

After the dog was dry, he smelt nothing more, except for dog, no shampoo smell, but above all no smell of manure was more noticeable.

If your dog also like to take such scented baths, give it a try!
