Drill pumpkin instead of carving? DIY

If something autumnal mood spreads, then probably a glowing, hollowed out pumpkin. This year I did not want to carve a face in my pumpkin and a "grown-up variant"? produce. I worked the pumpkin with a drill and it was a sweet, pitted pumpkin!

You need

  • pumpkin
  • Cordless drill (with two different drills)
  • Knife and spoon
  • tealights

That is how it goes

  1. Cut a lid off the pumpkin. Usually one uses a larger ornamental squash, but I used so many Hokkaidos in my garden and therefore one of them.
  2. First scrape the seeds with a spoon. Then scrape off the pulp as best it can from the pumpkin peel. In case of gourds, pick up the pulp and try delicious recipes! :)
  3. If the pumpkin is well hollowed out and the shell is quite thin, you can start to drill the holes in it. With a pencil I have drawn vertical lines on the pumpkin evenly spaced. On the lines I then marked with an edding, where later to be drilled. With the drill, have I perforated the rows in two different sizes? Carefully and slowly drill, through the pumpkin wall you slip off quickly! I also provided the lid with holes.
  4. Finally, place two or three tealights in the pumpkin, depending on how big your pumpkin is and how bright it should be.
  5. I put the finished pumpkin on a plate with a few chestnuts and tied a ribbon around the stem. The glowing pumpkin instantly spreads an autumnal, cuddly atmosphere!

The small, holey pumpkin is great for a cozy autumn evening. Even without a lid, the pumpkin is pretty to look at and shines even brighter.
