Drilling in tiles

For example, for 6 mm Fischer dowels: (are the best ones!) You need a 6mm HSS iron drill, a 6mm stone drill and more. if possible, an electronically adjustable percussion drill.

To the factory

  1. Mark the hole to be drilled with lead or felt tip pen.
  2. Make a crosshair in the middle of the drawn dot or circle (dashes should be 3-4 cm long).
  3. Then glue a clear Tesa tape strip (3-4 cm wide, approx. 4 cm long) over it. If you have only narrow at hand, this side by side u. glued over each other slightly. It serves that you do not slip off with the drill on the smooth tile surface, happens very quickly u. then over the tile, a milling track that can no longer be raced! (Who does not know that?!)
  4. Tighten the 6mm IRON DRILL into the core machine (the stone drill will come later).
  5. CAUTION: DO NOT set the drill to HIT, otherwise the tile glaze will splinter!
  6. Place the drill in the middle of the crosshairs. Slowly start to drill with stepless control. Without control, turn to the lowest position, or push the drilling machine intermittently ON / OFF, so that the full turn is not reached immediately.
  7. Always make sure that the drill is held at a right angle to the wall, applying a not too strong pressure, otherwise the drill will get so hot that it will burn out. To prevent this from happening, in between cool the drill bit with cold water (in the glass / cup / sleeve).
  8. If the hard glaze of the tile is completely pierced, the softer layer of the tile (recognizable by the (mostly) red drilling dust) comes.
  9. Now the stone drill is used and the drill is set to HITCH. Always keep the drilling machine at a right angle, because when tilting / tilting, it is easy to split the tile.
  10. Drill the hole about 1 / 2-1cm deeper than the dowel length. Vacuum the borehole with a vacuum cleaner (upholstery nozzle).
  11. Insert the dowel tile-like. Remove the tape. Wipe off pencil with cloth + spit, felt-tip pen with cloth and / or spit / nail polish remover.
