Driving away food moths - that's the way it works

The first time in the life food moths and then equal to the really violent infestation - we unfortunately had to experience this year.

Pheromone traps have brought me nothing because it attracted only more moths.

This is how it really works:

1) Inspect food cabinet and discard everything where moths are in, what the typical moth rags have and also everything that was not packed safely. Moth larvae are not visible to the naked eye and can even penetrate into supposedly safe sealed pasta bags, even if there is only the tiniest hole in it.

2) Wash the cabinet with a strong vinegar-water mixture and wash all packaging with vinegar water and blow out any holes for shelves with a blow-dryer, so that the larvae, which hide there, die off.

3) Grab a roll with large freezer bags and pack everything that is not mothproof (cardboard packaging, etc.) into a freezer bag and knot several times. Even more effective is to give some bay leaves in the bag. Then wipe the bags again with the vinegar water.

4) If you have acquaintances with a wholesale ID, ask them to bring a large bag of bay leaves. A huge bag of laurel leaves (about the size of two milk cartons, with hundreds of bay leaves) is e.g. at Selgros for about 8,00 Euro!

5) Spread the bay leaves liberally in the cupboard, preferably as a base layer and put the packaged food on it.

6) Polish the outside of the cabinet with a little lemon oil.

Although this is the absolute radical shock, but who really has strong infestation, it should try. Best then open the windows wide and ventilate. I actually saw two moths through the window "to escape".

Everything described above, unlike chemical nuggets and pheromone traps, is absolutely safe for children, animals and food.

Good luck with your crusade. :O)
