Driving in Spain - that can be expensive

Who is traveling in Spain with the car, should know certain ticks or country-specific features better - otherwise it can be expensive!

Left turn prohibited

On the carreteras, of course not in the cities, the left turn is strictly prohibited.

For this, the Spaniards have every few kilometers created a "turning opportunity": Here you turn right off the lane, cross the stop lane after the stop on both lanes, on the right side back onto the Carretera. Now you have the right track to easily turn right. If you get caught doing the turn, that can get pretty expensive; if this also causes an accident, especially!

Biker and the white line

Straight bikers, but also motorists, the z. B. overtake a cyclist, should pay attention to the solid white line. Exceeding these costs quickly just 200 EUR - cash on the spot but you get 50% discount.

Roadside markings in blue and yellow

It took me a long time to figure it out, because vehicles were constantly on the yellow marked areas. These zones mean absolute parking ban! Parking is allowed in blue marked areas, which are mostly chargeable. However, there is often the restriction that only until 14 o'clock and then again from 17 o'clock must be paid.

Did you get a "ticket" because you did not solve a parking ticket? The problem can often be solved easily on site: Take a day ticket, roll the ticket into it and look for the small "mailbox compartment" at the parking ticket machine. (Sometimes this annulment box is up, sometimes down). Get the combination - you've already paid for your ticket in an unbureaucratic way.

Street signs - where are they?

My first near-accidents I had, because I have overlooked with the most regularity, stop signs. This is not so difficult here, the traffic signs are also a corner smaller than in Germany - and often enough even on the left side of the road. Anyone who has gotten used to looking to the right has not only to do with a lack of local knowledge, but also to "find" signs. Also proliferating oleander bushes, etc. do not make this endeavor easier.

Red traffic lights? Watch out!

In Germany, it is customary to stop at the red light - you do not necessarily have to go out in Spain, especially when there are no pedestrians. Sure, that scooter and two-wheeled cyclists are there at the front, but woe, you are caught as a tourist!

Una cerveza, por favor? Enjoy with care

Spain has an alcohol or alcohol limit of 0.5. In the case, they let you blow that you 0.25 per mil max. in the blast test may have. With a normal sized Cerveza, started right after drinking, you are almost "tuned". But at least it is handled (at least here in Andalusia), the law enforcers so: 500 EUR would cost it, but with direct payment you only need half to pay - and there are no points or driving license withdrawal.

Sure, there would be much more to write here, especially since many Spaniards really can not drive a car. :-)

As crazy as they are traveling by scooter, but parking or turn signals? Wrong!

A little Andalusian serenity can not hurt driving, so have fun in Spain!
