Drug withdrawal? It will be a little easier

For years I was pumped full of medication, and then came the time that I did not need them! What was apparently unthinkable for doctors, because a real plan, how I get away from all the chemical stuff, had no one! On the contrary: In some cases, I was even prescribed stuff that is known to addict even more.

Insomnia, adrenaline rushes and Co.

Being energized up to the tips of your hair is one thing, but 36-52 hours without sleep, that's another house number. Clearly at least felt that this permanent "under power", with it together. At night my legs ran by themselves a marathon, the so-called "blue hour" I knew only too well!

The whole sweat attacks - but actually it was more like that, that I could not hold my temperature anymore. From chills to heat attacks, we went part-by-second - the menopause is a no brainer.


Basic nutrition, sports and tai chi

Rather by accident, I have noticed that I can alleviate the symptoms through the appropriate diet, WHAT I drink and also at least to some extent relieve exercise.

The more basic I ate, the less intense adrenaline was poured. And what was poured out, I have by moderate movements (walks, tai chi, yoga) "abtrainiert".

Yoga and tai chi have the additional effect of producing or improving mental balance.


Breathing training helps to come down

In addition, I went into breathing training: Inspired by the deep breathing of Tai Chi, I deliberately concentrated on it: breathing in slowly and slowly, holding on, breathing in and out slowly, and again from the beginning.

In hindsight, I can say that anything that helps distract your attention from the symptoms of withdrawal is worth the price of gold!

At the time I was distracted with an online game and related administrator activity in a help board: Solving other people's game problems was so busy with my mind that I was partially distracted from the symptoms in finding the solution. However, I did not get used to many other activities, even though I liked to do them otherwise. Make music, sing, paint, write - nothing went so right. But everyone should try it out for themselves, what works.


Also, therapeutic painting (eg polish old furniture, paint picture frames or clay pots) has a very relaxing effect and distracts well.

Conclusion: I would never do that in the hospital

For all my medications (and, above all, codeine dependence), my withdrawal took a total of 2 3/4 years.
Many say that this can only be done properly in the hospital - I strongly disagree with that!

First, hardly anyone can just hang up their lives for just under three years, and second, it just does not have the distraction options it needs. I would not want to run for nights on any hospital corridors if I can not sleep.

It's a matter of mindset

What always kept me up was the fact that I had a good reason to stop: I finally did not need it after 10 years! Every new day, every new reduction was a regaining of quality of life and freedom.
To this day, it is so that I only use herbal medicines or the pharmacy of nature, have read a lot about the different effects of food, fruits, vegetables and overall to me and my body also developed a completely new feeling.

Do not give up responsibility for yourself. Set a goal, work on your quality of life or to increase it! And yes: it works!
