Easy water change at the aquarium

It is not for everyone to suck water with your mouth, so this tip for aquarium enthusiasts, for a simple change of water at the aquarium.

The device described here (see photos) consists of a Filteransaugkorb with U-bend and a shut-off valve (Gardena here). Appropriate connections must be made. In addition, a sufficiently long hose with matching couplings (here Gardena) is needed.

Method:

I. Connect one end of the hose to the water connection (preferably a mixer for hot and cold water), open the shut-off valve on the device, turn on the water connection and flood the hose. Close the shut-off valve on the device.

II. Hang the device in the aquarium, remove the coupling at the water outlet and place it in the garden or sink (below the aquarium's water level). Open shut-off valve; now the water should drain.

III. Then, with the desired water level reduction, or if air was sucked in, connect the coupling from the garden or sink back to the water connection. Turn it up. Observe the water temperature here!

IV. Now open the shut-off valve on the device and allow the water to run in. Be sure to stay here !!! and close the shut-off valve if desired.

V. Take the device out of the aquarium, disconnect the coupling from the water connection and place it in the garden or in the sink as previously, open the shut-off valve and drain the hose.
