English scones

English scones are traditional biscuits and can be eaten alone, but taste particularly good with butter and strawberry jam.

ingredients

  • 230g of flour
  • 25g sugar
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 50g unsalted butter
  • 150ml of milk
  • 1 twisted egg to brush

preparation

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add butter and knead as quickly as possible with your fingers to form a crumbly dough.
  2. Gradually add milk and make a soft dough. Roll it out on a floured work surface approx. 2cm thick.
  3. Cut small circles (5cm diameter) with the knife and place on a baking sheet with baking paper. Scones become shiny by brushing them with the egg.
  4. Bake at 220 degrees for 12 minutes.

It is best to serve scones lightly warm.
