Filigree stars of white star thread

These decorative poinsettias are easy to make. Christmas is over, but the next Christmas is coming. Therefore, I would like to pass on this tip as an addendum. Man could possibly work something already!

Material:

  • white star twist
  • a wooden board
  • an odd number of small, short nails (for the larger stars I used 15 or 21 and for the smaller 15 nails)
  • a pair of pliers
  • some spray strength
  • Laundry starch or sugar water

This is how it's done:

Steps 1-3:

On the wooden board, a circle is drawn first. Then you hit the nails at the same distance on this circular line, so that they stand out about 1 cm.

Then the nail heads are pinched off with pliers.

Now you start at any point and knots the twist thread to the 1st nail (while the beginning of the thread copious enough). Then you lead the thread to a second nail on the opposite side of the circle (do not run over the center of the circle!) And lay it around this nail (2.). Then the thread is returned to the starting side and placed around the next nail (3.) in a clockwise direction next to the nail (1.). (I took a colored thread for the photos to make it easier to see!)

Steps 4-6:

Then to the nail (5.) on the opposite side and then repeat the whole until you get back to the nail (1.).

Now a simple star is finished. At your discretion, you can now stretch another round by z. B. each skips 1 or 2 nails or you can also span several laps.

There are a lot of different variants possible, as you can see on the other photos, at will. There are no limits to the imagination, you just have to try it!

It is better if you later used a different thread as a hanger. I used thin black yarn for that.

Star strengthen:

After completion, the star must then be strengthened. For this you can use spray starch or laundry starch (diluted 1: 1 with water). Or you can add sugar water (1 part sugar and 2 parts water). For this, the sugar water is heated until the sugar has dissolved, then it is allowed to cool and it is filled into a spray bottle. After starving, the star on the wooden board has to dry a bit before you can remove it carefully.

I wish all those who want to imitate it, have fun!
