Fresh Matjes as in Nordfriesland

In the summer we like to spend a holiday week in Nordfriesland and have eaten the matjes there for the first time in the way I have set them years ago and I still like it today. The recipe is for 2 people and who likes to eat matjes, will love this preparation.

ingredients

For the cream cream

  • 150 g Miracle Whip Balance
  • 150 g of cream
  • 2 - 3 tablespoons creme fraiche (I always take the light version)
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 - 3 gherkins
  • 1 medium-sized sour apple
  • 1 bunch of fresh dill
  • Pepper, herbal salt or normal salt

For the fried potatoes I have about the day before

  • 500 g potatoes cooked as jacket potatoes
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 pack of very lean ham cubes
  • 4 Matjes double fillets

preparation

  1. For the cream mix Miracle Whip, cream and crème fraîche together and then add the diced gherkins, the diced onions and the peeled, pitted, greased and sliced ​​apple into the sauce. Chop the dill into small pieces, stir in and season the sauce with pepper and not too much salt or herbal salt and let it pass through well (about 2 hours).
  2. Slice the potatoes and fry well in a pan in clarified butter, pepper, salt and then roast the diced ham and a small onion.
  3. Arrange the Matjes double fillets on plates and decorate with the cream sauce in a handsome and appetizing way. Then there are the fried potatoes, which I mixed with plain parsley just before serving.
