Gentle and inexpensive facial cleansing with microfiber cloths

A man who writes a tip on a cosmetic topic? Is that possible? I think so, because my tip has nothing to do with cosmetics in the classical sense. It's more about a unisex care tip, which is intended for both dads and moms. As far as the Vorgeklänkel.

Since the first puberty pimples showed up in my youth, I am looking for the ultimate cleansing method for facial skin. I inherited a very sensitive skin from my red-haired mother. At that time she herself (late 1970s) always used a liquid facial soap from Sebamed, and kept her advertising slogan? PH-neutral? for wisdom final conclusion. I was at an age where you still believe his parents (some) and used logically the next years mother Sebamed. Later, during the student days, this remedy would have just blown up my tightly calculated Bafög frame. I therefore resorted to everything that was either standing around (WG) or cheap. I was never satisfied: neither with Sebamed, nor with cheap toner or cleansing milk. Everything was kind of clean, but my skin has always suffered. Sometimes more sometimes less.

This dilemma has continued throughout my adult life: dry and reddened skin from washing, oily skin and large pores of any anti-dryness creams. I had all Man-care series of well-known and expensive manufacturers, until one day a square cloth of 15 centimeters edge length changed my life. Well, at least the life of my facial skin. A friend of mine worked as a make-up artist at the theater and had to do constantly with the application and removal of a lot of make-up. So, as a specialist, I asked her which remedy she would recommend for my (unvarnished) skin. She disappeared into her bath for a moment and came back with the rag. "This one?" She said, "a microfibre cloth. Just moisten with warm water and rub your face with it. Is it also possible to use make-up, even waterproof? I took the rag, it felt like a fine washcloth. "If he's dirty," my acquaintance went on, you just throw him in the 60-degree laundry. We use those things at work all the time?

Back home, I asked Dr. Google, what he thinks of these towels and lo and behold: I found innumerable comments enthusiastic users who confirmed the statement of my acquaintances. even water-based make-up, child's play, "refined skin image". save me the money for expensive cleaning products? and so on. On the website of a well-known coffee roaster (which is now known for anything but coffee), I finally found a three-pack of cloths for well under ten euros. Clicked, ordered and delivered. One of the shawls was pink, but well, what did I expect at this price? I use it now for my PC monitor.

This whole story happened about two years ago. Since then, except for a microfibre cloth and water, I have not used anything else for cleaning. My skin thanks me a lot: Less redness, smaller pores and a completely clean feeling. Meanwhile, I have a collection of these cloths from different manufacturers. I always use one a day, once in the morning and once in the evening, then it comes to the laundry. In my circle of friends, I have been diligently doing missionary work in microfibre and so far have received only positive feedback from both make-up women and unvarnished men. Oh yes, one more thing: I've read comments from people on the Internet who use commercial household towels made of microfibre for facial cleansing. I have no experience with that. Everything written here refers to special microfibre face wipes.

Before writing this post, I researched a few facts about these shawls. Here are the results:

  • The surfactants and emulsifiers contained in almost all facial cleansers dissolve the skin's own fats and weaken the natural skin barrier. When cleaning with a microfiber cloth, the pH remains in balance and the skin barrier stable.
  • There are microfibre cloths that contain antibacterial silver ions to keep them fresh and hygienic for longer. However, these towels are much more expensive (about ten euros per towel).
  • The microfibers of facial cleansing wipes are about one-hundredth of the strength of a human hair and can also absorb tiny particles of dirt from the skin pores.

For me personally, no other type of facial cleansing is more in question, according to the motto: "I only leave my skin with water and microfiber cloths." In addition, I also save money with the cloths and protect the environment.Maybe someone has already made experiences with these cloths among you and can report in the comments. I'm curious.
