Get a grip on expenses

Do you also know that at the end of the money so many months are left? I was quite fed up with this and picked up on an idea from my mother when, as an apprentice with a student husband and child, she also had to pay a lot of attention to the money:

I have calculated a fixed weekly budget, with which I then have to get along. For this I only go to the ATM once a month and pick up the money for the whole month, this I distribute in envelopes, one for each week. So I never carry too much cash around with me.

Refueling is extra, but there I have a budget.

In addition, I have tracked all income and expenses over several months and entered into an Excel spreadsheet, in which I enter each issue. The whole thing is done quickly with some discipline and although there are well-known tips: it works for me! Most of the time I do not even need my weekly budget - and my checking account has not been in the red since then.
