Grandma's honey gingerbread break with cream

My grandma baked the dough from the honey gingerbread in 4 parts on the plate. Cut out and decorate was too much for her. Baking and breaking, that's how it went, and it was great fun for us.

From the 4 parts a bowl was filled with breakage. On a piece came a cherry on the cake, which we licked off immediately!

ingredients

  • 500 g of liquid honey
  • 200 g wheat flour
  • 200 rye flour
  • 1 pck of baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 pinch of cloves and cardamom each
  • 1 pck of lemon peel rubbed
  • 1 pck of orange peel rubbed
  • 75 g almonds ground

preparation

  1. Mix the honey with the spices, grated almonds, lemon and orange peel.
  2. Sift the flour into a bowl, add baking soda and gradually add to the honey mixture. Mix well and knead well.
  3. Roll out the dough on the greased baking tray and divide into 4 pieces with a plastic or wooden handle.
  4. Bake for 12 - 15 minutes at 200 degrees. Check with the knitting needle: The honey gingerbread should not be too firm.
  5. After baking, allow to cool and break into small pieces.
