Gratinated Brussels sprouts

ingredients for 4 persons

  • 700 g Brussels sprouts
  • 1 cup of sour cream or creme fraiche
  • milk
  • onions
  • tomato paste
  • 1 small glass of mushrooms for vegetarians
  • 200 g ham cubes for meat eaters
  • Soy sauce

Spices and herbs:

  • Pepper, salt, nutmeg, paprika, basil, chives, a little garlic
  • Grated cheese or spicy slices

preparation

  1. Cook Brussels sprouts as usual.
  2. Chop onions and mushrooms, sauté.
  3. Sprinkle with flour (a smooth EL per person) and stir in, top up with milk and sour cream or creme fraiche to make a thick sauce.
  4. Add soy sauce and tomato paste (1 tsp each) for refinement (the color should look slightly orange).
  5. Now add the cooked Brussels sprouts, the spices and herbs (except paprika) and the ham cubes for the meat eaters or the mushrooms for the vegetarians.
  6. Put everything in a refractory buttered dish, spread grated cheese over it and sprinkle with paprika.
  7. Bake in the oven over medium heat (preheated) until the cheese has melted (about 10 minutes).
  8. For this boiled potatoes are served.
  9. Preparation time: 40 minutes

Suitable as a Saturday lunch.
