Great experiment for older children: growing crystals in the glass

For little researchers, for rainy afternoons this is perhaps an idea:

Grow crystals in the glass. This is no magic, you just have to get a few harmless things from the pharmacy:

Water glass, little copper sulphate, little potassium permanganate. You only need a few grains! So buy a small amount. Say in the pharmacy that you want to grow crystals.

Now you take a large glass, fill it with the substance water glass in half, then comes the same amount of tap water. Stir gently.

Using a small pair of pliers or a small spoon, grains of copper sulfate or potassium permanganate are dropped into the glass so that they land on the floor.

After some time, crystals form on the ground that grow like exotic plants. Watching this is great fun for kids!

My dad was a chemist and inspired me and later my sons with growing crystals!
