Heidesand - great!

Which child does not like her? Heidesand! Whether as a small pastry piece or as a "cake substitute". Here is my recipe for making it yourself:

  • 125g butter
  • 125g sugar
  • 1 bag. vanilla sugar
  • 1/2 tbsp milk
  • 180g of flour

First, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat and brown. Then let the butter almost completely cool and add the sugar and vanilla sugar while still liquid and stir until frothy. Once a uniform mass has formed knead the flour. Put the dough in the fridge and strain well. After approx. Half an hour, knead the dough again and shape into a 3-4 cm wide roll. Slice the roll (dip the edges in sugar as you like) and place on a baking tray. Bake at 200 ° C on a medium rack in the oven for about 10 minutes. Watch out! Heidesand will not turn brown, if it does, it's already too late! Allow the finished biscuits to cool on the plate (otherwise they will break too easily). While they are still fresh, heath sand are very hard, best left open for a few days.
