A sweet and spicy spread that goes well with breakfast rolls, such as cheese, cheese platter, poultry or crackers: Hot sweet chili jam!
ingredients
- Cherry tomatoes, 250 g chopped into small cubes
- equal amount of red onions or shallots, chopped small
- 5-8 chili peppers, minced (jalapeño, habanero, depending on compatibility: note the degree of severity!)
- 1 pinch of salt
- Juice of a large organic lemon and some rubbing
- about 1/4 l of vinegar, better still rice vinegar (maybe later a little more water, if necessary)
- Gelierzucker (here: 2: 1, so it is not too sweet)
Garlic and / or grated ginger can be optionally added. This recipe is not intended.
preparation
- Put all the ingredients in a saucepan except for the jelly sugar and simmer on medium for about 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle with selected preserving sugar according to the package instructions and bring to a boil.
- Boil hot in sterilized jars, close immediately, turn upside down.
After opening, the chili jam should be stored in the refrigerator.
Closed it is durable for a few months, but will not survive so long ?, since they also z. B. Lettuce dressing spiced up, grilled meat gives a special touch and is also suitable for marinating Spareribs.
