Ice towel keeps food cold even in mid-summer
I recently came up with the idea to cool my fresh food in a very special way, I use several of my "cherished" ice towels! Because shopping at high temperatures becomes a problem if either the distance is too long, the cooler is not sufficient or in the freezer is not enough space to cool the cooling batteries in advance.
What is a "ice towel"?
Athletes will know it and I can not think it out of my everyday life.
The ice towel I am describing here is a Dunlop brand of 30x60 ultralight absorbent, high-permeability antibacterial cloth housed in a plastic box that can be attached to a backpack or belt with a built-in clip. The container is too big for me: a freezer bag, preferably with a zipper, is completely sufficient to keep the cloth moist throughout the day.
The ice cloth is certainly synonymous of other providers, but I describe this cloth here, because I have only experience with it.
The cloth is soaked with cold or warm water before first use, well wrung and shaken vigorously for 10 seconds.
The result:
The cloth is (ice) cold! Unbelievable, but that's the way it is.
The cold lasts about 2 hours and cools on hot days or during sports face and body.
As soon as it is not refreshing cold, it is only shaken again for 10 seconds and is immediately cold again.
This procedure can be used as often as you like, as long as the cloth is wet, that is almost unlimited.
On hot days around the neck, on the décolleté, on the pulse or the forehead, it cools the body temperature pleasantly.
Even with hot flashes, bruises or fever it can be used at any time.
For (unintentionally) hot nights, I sewed 4 cloths together and put them on my body at night. This helps to fall asleep. The cloth is not wet and does not feel wet or damp; It is just pleasantly cool and the coolness, as I said, about 2 hours. Nachschlackern is not necessary, because I fell asleep in 2 hours at a comfortable body temperature with certainty.
My ice-cream towels are from the brand Dunlop, available on the internet for 8-20 euros, depending on the provider.
The cloths are made of 100% polyester and can only be handwashed.
