Label preserving jars with food

I fill flour, sugar, starch, etc. into large preserving jars.

To keep track, I note the expiration date on the bottom of the glass on a sticker, so I always know what is still edible.

mayan: Dear Baerlinerin, first time I have your red thumb removed. Should not get anyone who voices his opinion.
I think about everything, never use disinfectants in the household - since I was a microbiologist, I know when it is appropriate and when not. You compared apples and pears! Germs are germs and poisons are poisons!
I live very health conscious, but my edding stays. On the glass and not on my fingers. Do not worry, I do not invite you to dinner. There are only people who do not suspect a poisoning attack on every corner.

So, now I am through with the topic, I say nothing more now! mayan: @ Dora: Of course they do that-but they can not get out of the glass at least and go to other food. And if moths come in from outside, they can not turn to unsophisticated foods in jars.

I had a real moth plague (flour moths and dried fruit moths) through bird food and an infested date packet
and since then everything, including the birdseed, is in jars. Then, when I see an infestation, the glass comes into the microwave to kill the critters, and then throw it away in the contents.
Believe me, I've become an expert on the creatures, of necessity. They were everywhere in my kitchen.
