Leather pants wash because of mold smell

I had on my old leather knee breeches (used used / thick cowhide suede) a strong mold / fox odor.
There was nothing to see, but the smell was obtrusive and disgusting.

Pants turned left and washed alone in the washing machine with wool program and 1/2 cup of wool detergent at 40 ° C.

My machine did not hail as it has an imbalance sensor

So pants hung up to drip off (about 45 minutes)

At full temperature for 1 hour in the dryer with 3 Tennisbällen- then it was still wet, something like I would have expected after a spin of the washing machine.

Then at gentle temperature for 2 hours in the dryer with 3 tennis balls - then it was dry.

Before: bought a leather care product: "effax leather - mildew free", 150 ml, this is an oily liquid with lanolin in it. Bought in the equestrian / equestrian accessories store, about 6, - ?, spray bottle.

Trousers from the inside and outside completely sprayed - about 75 ml consumed, the leather is slightly darker

The pants are pulled tightly from the legs and left for a few hours so that the oilskin not only lies on the surface but retracts.

Where it was spotty lighter, carefully sprayed.

The day after (today) during a day hike the whole day worn.

The pants do not stink anymore (my wife confirmed hats) and is also from touching and wearing her better than ever! Looks really like new.
