Make 7 healthy sweets yourself

Can sweets be healthy at all? Sugar is sugar, whether granulated sugar, fructose, malt sugar or glucose. Bad for the teeth and for the figure. But especially children (and not only those!) Love sweets. Nice, if one can recommend his children, such as nutrition and education advice, on fruit. But at the latest on the first child birthday is over with the banana as a chocolate substitute. But you always have the opportunity to produce sweets yourself and to be the ruler of their sugar content.

1. dried fruits

A delicious snack for the sweet hunger are dried fruits such as raisins, apple rings, apricots. They have as much vitamins and minerals as the fresh fruit and contain a lot of fiber. Despite this healthy attitude, dried fruit is a snack, the sugar content is logically much higher than when fresh. That's why they taste so delicious!

You can make apple rings yourself: Remove the core from the whole apple (if you do not value rings, you can also halve the apple), whether you peel or not is a matter of taste. Then slice the apple with a cucumber slicer into very thin slices, dry in a dehydrator or simply in a slightly open oven at 100 degrees for 2 hours. However, since most modern ovens do not heat when the door is open, just open doors every 10 or 15 minutes to let the moisture out.

2. Popcorn

Homemade popcorn (popcorn corn is available in well-stocked supermarkets) is the healthier alternative to potato chips, for example? significantly less fat and much less calories. Just make 4 tablespoons of sunflower oil in a pan (preferably with a glass lid) hot. 4 tablespoons of popcorn corn and on request some sugar (but does not have to) and the lid on it. Do not take too much corn, the bottom of the pan should be barely covered. Do not turn the stove too high or it will burn. Better to invest some patience. At some point it plops in any case! Do not lower the lid until it has stopped. Then season to taste? with sugar, salt or nothing!

3. Muesli bars or biscuits without sugar

Granola bars are energy bombs, especially if you buy them with the full sugar charge in the store? not for nothing they are placed at the sweets. An alternative are sugar-free products. Or you do it yourself, then you can also determine the cutting size. For example, by toasting each 250 g of coarse and fine oatmeal in 100 g of butter in a pan over medium heat until they are tender brown. Then caramelise with 400 g of honey. Add 100g roughly chopped nuts, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds, raisins and a little lemon juice to this mixture. Spread all on baking paper, compress a little and dry at 150 ° for 10 to 20 minutes, allow to cool briefly and cut to the desired size. The cereal bars / slices / cubes must now cool overnight on a grid.

4. Marzipan

If you make marzipan yourself, you can determine how much sugar is in the mass. It's a bit tedious, but actually quite simple:

  • 300 g of ground almonds
  • 150g powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tablespoons rosewater

Knead everything carefully together. Then, for example, you can make marzipan potatoes by shaping balls and rolling them into cocoa. Marzipan can also be colorized wonderfully with food coloring and make everything possible. The imagination knows no limits.

5. Fruit slices

Sweets based on fruit are still sweets, but you still have vitamins for it.

Cut 125 g of dried, unsulphured apricots into small pieces and soak them with 125 g raisins in a little orange juice. Puree the mixture, add 80 g of hazelnuts, 100 g of oatmeal and 3 tablespoons each of honey and almond paste. Season with a teaspoon of cinnamon and cocoa. Spread the mixture between two wafers and let it dry. Cut small.

6. gummy bears

Dissolve 6 sheets of gelatine and a packet of jello in 250 ml of not too hot water. If desired, Stevia. Place the mass in ice cube trays made of silicone and leave to solidify overnight in the refrigerator.

7. Latwerge

Sounds weird, but it is like this: Under Latwerge we understand today only strong eingekochtes plum jam, earlier this delicacy but was made from a variety of fruits. It is essential to slow and long cook at low temperatures until a thick Mus arises, which is painted on a plate and in the oven at 50 ° can be fixed. The consistency should be the same as gummy bears. The sugar content can be varied? the less sugar you take, the shorter the shelf life.
