Make a NERF target

My son regularly does a Nerf battle with his friends in the apartment. The latest hit is the rotating target. The is also great for children's birthday parties.

Our targets are made of old cardboard, some cardboard, yarn and colored paper. The material we had completely lying around at home. The targets in the small shooting range even turn when hit. First, I drew four circles with a diameter of 8.5 cm on thick cardboard (3 mm) with a compass. It is also thinner cardboard, but you have to cut twice and then stick together, otherwise the target of the force of the impacting foam arrows Nerf does not stand.

cut

Draw two circles directly next to each other at a distance of approx. 1.5 cm. Connect the two circles with a narrow bridge. Then cut out the target (consisting of two circles connected to the web) with a cutter or utility knife (see Figure 2). To make things look a little nicer, use the compass to draw eight circles of the same diameter on wrapping paper, cut them out, and glue them to the front and back of the cardboard targets. In addition, in another color, record eight circles with a diameter of 2.5 cm on paper, cut out and glue each in the center of the target. I still had small stickers with a diameter of eight millimeters, which I also glued on. Alternatively, you can also push through the cardboard tacks. But then please bend the top at the back.

Fixing the target

From a box, the frame is created, in which the targets are fixed. The upper tabs I have wrapped inwards and glued with glue. This gives the shooting range more stability. If you like, you can paint the box and spice it up with stickers. With a fixed yarn, the targets are tied to the wooden stick. Place the rod over the bridge and tie the two together with the ribbon crosswise. The discs should be tied to the rod so tightly that they do not fall over by themselves, but still allow them to be turned by hand. Finally, stick the rod with glue in the cardboard and note that the discs can rotate freely.

This is needed:

  • Cardboard (W 29 cm, H 41 cm, D 18 cm)
  • Cardboard for the targets (3 mm thickness)
  • Colorful paper and / or round stickers
  • Wooden stick (6 mm x 50 cm)
  • yarn
  • Color and sticker
  • glue
  • Scissors or cutter
  • ruler
  • compasses
