Make sand candles

Sand candles are easy to do, in a bowl with slightly damp sand. With a glass or a cardboard roll a shape comes in the sand. As you pour in molten wax, z. B. white wax granules dyed with wax color or wax residues.

Important to know: Melt the wax in a container, which is used only for such tinkering. Never heat wax on an open flame, it may ignite. The wax must always be melted on an electric cooker. Never cook, but let it heat slowly at medium temperature.

This is how it's done

  1. Photo 3: Fill bowl with slightly damp sand.
  2. Photo 4: toilet paper roll is stuck in the sand and pulled out with sand. Fill liquid wax into the hole. Candle shape No. 1.
  3. Photo 5: Screwed glass is stuck in the sand and taken out again. Fill liquid wax into the hole. Candle shape No. 2.
  4. Photo 6: When the wax gets slightly stiff, the knitting needle comes in.
  5. Photo 7: The hole for the wick is ready.
  6. Photo 8: The wick comes into the formed hole.
  7. Photo 9: Now the candle has to cool in the sand. Only then excavate and place on a worktop.
  8. Photo 10: Carefully scrape off sand with a sharp knife and toothbrush. The melted sand remains on the candle, it's called "sand candle". To smooth the surface, rub it with the beeswax candle.
