Making PomPoms in series ~ DIY

If you need many pompoms for garlands, for example, you do not have to make them all individually. With a little trick, several can be made at the same time. It only takes a few chair or table legs.

To make several pompoms in one go, wool is first wrapped around two chair or table legs, which have a sufficient distance from each other. Piano stools or other pieces of furniture with legs are just as suitable. A wooden board with two big nails right and left, it does too. You should have enough space to wrap around. The farther the legs are apart, the more tassels are created.

Tie the wool to a chair leg and then wrap it around the second chair leg and back again. For pompoms with a diameter of 4 cm 80 to 100 windings are sufficient with thick wool. For thin wool, wrap more wool around the legs of the chair. Even with larger pompoms more needs to be wrapped. When enough is wrapped, the wool end is made firm on the chair leg. Then a few about 30 to 40 cm long threads are cut. Depending on the desired diameter, the wrapped wool threads are tied together as firmly as possible at regular intervals of approx. 3 to 5 cm. After that, the whole thing looks like a long caterpillar. Cut off the caterpillar right and left with the scissors from the chair leg and then cut the caterpillar into pompoms in the middle between every two set sides. Now pluck the wool and cut the tassels into shape.

This is needed:

  • Wool
  • Chair table
  • scissors
