Milanese cake (according to a recipe from my grandmother)

Time

Preparation time: 1 hr.
Cooking or baking time: 20 min.
Total preparation time: 1 hr. 20 min.

For the Milanese cake (recipe from my grandmother) you have to prepare a yeast dough first, I always do a super fast, because I hate waiting. If you do not have a recipe for one, I'll give it to you:

Ingredients (wet yeast dough):

  • 450 g of flour
  • 1/8 l of milk
  • 40 g of yeast
  • 100 g of butter
  • 50 g of sugar
  • 1 egg

preparation

  1. Everything above is supposed to have room temperature.
  2. Dissolve the yeast and sugar in the milk, then make the butter in the microwave thin and allow to cool. When the "thin" butter has cooled, mix the egg in it and add the yeast milk, stir well.
  3. Approximately Put 350 g of flour in a bowl, make a dish and pour in the liquid. Mix from the middle, then knead to a nice dough.
  4. I use my sink for the next step, of course cleaned and so: D (fun must be). Form the dough into a ball and place in cold water.
  5. When it comes back to the surface, about 20 minutes, knead the remaining flour.
  6. Of course it is also suitable for fruit (plums are great or apples). Schwups no more annoying let go, that settles in the water.

So, for the Milanese you need:

  • 1 L of milk
  • 3 packs of vanilla pudding
  • some lard
  • little sugar
  • Icing sugar and lemon

Completion:

  1. The pudding you cook with the liter of milk (but really take the 3 packets of pudding powder), otherwise cook according to instructions and let cool, but not quite!
  2. Half of the yeast dough spread on the plate as a floor and give it on the not quite cold pudding (nice and even)!
  3. Roll the rest of the dough out thinly and smear some grease over the whole rolled dough with a pastry brush or something similar, now the sugar comes into play.
  4. Sprinkle the sugar over the lard rolled out dough.
  5. Now it gets a bit tricky. Now roll in the dough and cut into thin slices and place on the pudding.
  6. Now relax is announced.
  7. Bake the cake at about 180 ° C for 20 minutes, when this is done, mix the icing sugar with a little bit of lemon (no lumps) and again comes the pastry brush. Give over the "snails" and the cake is ready.

It's a bit of work, but the cake is worth it and in our family the racer at every family celebration!

Try it!
