Notice periods - important information
Notice periods are difficult. Employment contracts must comply with the law. Telephone and Internet contracts have to be read and understood!
I've been busy with it, because of my sloppiness termination came one day late. I have to wait 12 months for the contract to end. Why? Because he will automatically be extended by 12 months if you do not cancel!
These are contracts with a minimum term of 3, 12 or 24 months.
1. What is meant by? Deadline is a fixed period.
2. What does month mean? Month does not mean 4 weeks. One month has 31 days or 30 days and once 28 days. Once a year, a month has 4 weeks if it is not a leap year!
3. What is meant by a deadline for the end of the month ?? The specified notice period is the end of the month. So the 30th or the 31st or the 28th (in the leap year of the 29th)
An example: The contract is? 2-month notice to the end of the month ?. You have to cancel 2 months before the end of the contract and also pay attention to the previous month end.
For example: contract ends on 15 September. The last day the contract is up and running is the day before, the 14th of September. From this day you expect now 2 months back. The result: 14.7. ? At the end of the month? but means the end of the month from the month before. So the 30th of June. On this day the notice must be with the contracting party, so that the deadline is kept.
Mnemonic:
End of the month is 1 month back! First calculate the number for the deadline and then go back to the previous month. Then see if it's the 28th, 29th, 30th or 31st. Always cancel one week before the end of this month. The letter should arrive at the end of the month! Preferably as a registered letter with acknowledgment of receipt. Or hand in personally at the end of the month.
Automatic extension of time:
If you miss this period, a contract with a 3-month minimum term will be extended by 1 month, and contracts with a 12-month and 24-month minimum term by 12 months.
