Paintbrush: No washout during a break

When painting, you often have to apply several layers. This means that the paintbrush has a break during drying of the paint. Most of the time you wash it off and then you have a disposal problem with the brush cleaner - often poisonous stuff.

For many color types, however, you can wipe the brush after use and then place it in a container of water until next time. Then you wipe it off again - that removes the water - and can use it almost immediately.

Who has doubts whether the brush is now ready for further work, makes a few small trial orders on waste wood or the like.

This tip does not work for very water soluble color types. For these it is sometimes worthwhile to buy very cheap brushes, which can be disposed of after use and the stroke result can withstand a hair or two.
