Pour potatoes more easily: on a sieve

Many times I have been annoyed that in the classic way of pouring potatoes with the slightly slanted lid, the lid slips off and all the potatoes land in the sink.
Now I always do it this way: Pour the potatoes into a sieve.

For boiled potatoes I put the potatoes back into the dry pot for evaporation and for potato puree I heat the desired amount of milk and butter in the potato pot, before I put the potatoes in again and crush them.
