Pour wax figures

Pour beeswax figures, such as B. Madonna with baby Jesus, in silicone rubber molds.

In the selected trade, there are very beautiful and high quality silicone rubber molds for casting candles and molds. For example, at a beekeeping specialty store.

A disadvantage is the high price for such a silicone rubber mold (for the in the photo about 50, - Euro).

The big plus is the great resistance, tear resistance and flexibility of such a shape. It can be used again several hundred times. This can be wonderful gifts.

Beeswax is the ideal wax for these forms, this melts already from about 60 degrees. Wax of candle remnants, usually begins to melt only from 70 degrees and could attack the silicone mold and destroy it.

manual

  1. Fill a pot about halfway with water and heat.
  2. The beeswax in small pieces or beeswax, in a clean large z. B. Fill 500 ml cucumber glass and place in the pot.
  3. Melt the wax over a moderate heat in a water bath.
  4. The silicone rubber mold is previously rinsed with warm water to remove any dust or fibers. We do not want to have this in the candle.
  5. Shake out the mold well so that the water can drip off.
  6. Bring the cut surfaces of the mold into the right position so that they are consistent.
  7. Now with the enclosed rubber rings, as shown in the photo, fix the shape. This is absolutely necessary, otherwise the wax would leak laterally due to the pressure.
  8. To be on the safe side, wipe the glass dry with the molten beeswax and then pick it up with another dry dishcloth.
  9. Then you hold the silicone mold in the other hand slightly laterally and pour the candle wax with a thin stream into the mold.
  10. Then put the full shape slowly on a flat surface, where it can cool down a bit.
  11. If necessary, that is when a pit forms above, add a little more wax.
  12. Now, if possible, do not attack the mold any more and allow it to cure in peace, depending on the size of the mold used, for about 5 hours.
  13. At room temperature slowly let cool down. Do not refrigerate or otherwise cool.
  14. Once the wax has hardened, as you can see from the shape that feels cool on the outside, remove the rubber ring and carefully begin to detach the mold from above / from the opening.
  15. The shape can be stretched with feeling very far and so you can take out the figure then.
  16. Finished! Maybe the one or the other got the desire to cast figures?
