Practical Spice Jar - "Spice Case"

Anyone who cooks a lot and likes to experiment with spices knows the problem with the individual spice jars / cans. Constantly you need another spice and that means in my case:

Open the drawer, look for a spice, open the glass, season it, add the glass, wipe it off and put it back in the drawer, close the drawer. If it gets really rough, then clean your hands first.

I have one now ? Spice suitcase? tinkered, which is easy to reach when cooking in my area and contains everything that I mainly use for seasoning. Of course, there are tons of other spices in that drawer, but I've put together those that are in constant use.

Everyone definitely has an empty metal box or plastic container with lid. Suitable are e.g. Cans in which to buy biscuits. They are mostly square and not very tall. Round cans are not suitable: there is too much space lost.

Suitable containers are all small plastic containers; you just have to see how it fits best in the can. It can be bowls of finished salads, oil cans (without sharp edges), mini-yoghurt etc.

In my spice jar perfectly fit the small solid bowls of Mett (Mettzwerge, 4-pack), which I like to buy because of the individually packaged portions and shelf life.

  • Well washed and dried, I fill plastic cans with the necessary spices.
  • It is better not to add too much spice so that the flavor will not fade over time.
  • It can be better refilled at any time.
  • While cooking, the can is within reach and I always have the spices I use all the time.
  • For staining spices such as turmeric it is advisable to use a spoon.
