Practical use of wool residues

If you like and knit a lot and / or crochet, you will definitely have a lot of different wool remnants. Since the time begins again, in which the days are getting shorter and it gets dark quickly, I came up with the idea to use such wool remnants to z. B. from a very simple water glass to produce an individual lantern. Depending on your preference you can crochet the glass either in your favorite color or you take two or more colors.

It's easy. First you crochet the ground, To do this, I crocheted only some sturdy loops in rounds, increasing a corresponding number of stitches each round until the size of the base of the glass was reached.

For the shell I then crocheted with chopsticks, meshes and tight stitches. For the first row I have crocheted a double stick in every single crochet (of course you can also crochet simple sticks), then the row is closed with a strong stitch.

The next and the following rows can now be crocheted in any pattern and / or colors.

example

In a row * Crochet 1 stick in the space of 2 sticks of the previous row, then 1 airlock, then 1 stick in the same space *For the next two sticks skip a space between the sticks of the previous row, so crochet the sticks into every other gap. The pattern * . . . * Then repeat until the round is closed, then close again with a tight stitch.

In the next rows, the 2 sticks are then crocheted between the 2 sticks of the previous row over the air mesh, not forgetting the air mesh between the two sticks.

It is also possible to crochet one to three rows of fixed stitches in between, depending on your preference, in between, with no limits to your imagination.

When the height of the glass is almost reached, I would recommend, as graduation Crochet at least three or more rows of stitches.

A few more tips

  • I would recommend to use the thinner yarn, because then the candlelight shines through better. You could also use raffia for crocheting.
  • And if you prefer knitting, you could try a lace pattern, there are many different variants.
  • Incidentally, the glass can also be used well as a vase!

I wish you a lot of fun while copying!
