Proven remedy for hiccups

Hiccup I get away with the following "long breath":

  1. Count to 10 in your thoughts while inhaling slowly ...
  2. ... then count to 10 in your thoughts and hold your breath ...
  3. ... then swallow dry 3x dry with stopped air ...
  4. ... then count to 10 in thought and exhale.

It works for me almost always on the first pass, otherwise at the latest at the second.

It's the most reliable method I've tried.
