Public refrigerator against food waste

Public Refrigerators - Fair dividers against food waste & they help us save money.

There are many people who earn little money or have only a small pension or are homeless. Others use them again for political and environmental protection. No matter why you want to use them - they really exist and everything is completely unbureaucratically usable and above all free!

Distributed throughout Germany, Austria and other countries, there are already some fair dividers.

These are usually publicly accessible refrigerators or rooms where food is fairteilt. There, anyone who wants to bring food (if you have cooked too much, for example) or take food from there for free.

Food is usually donated to the fair dividers because the best before date has been exceeded, a product has been taken out of stock, the packaging has been damaged or can not be sold due to overproduction etc.

The employees of the supermarkets themselves are unfortunately not allowed to take such goods home, because that would be seen by the tax office as part of the wage, which has to be taxed by the company.

So the food rather ends up in the trash and that for years!

These fair dividers are regularly filled by volunteers. Some supermarkets and catering establishments, farmers etc. show social arrangements and participate in this project, helping to save immaculate food from garbage and thus to protect the environment.

Where these fair dividers are located near you, you can find out on //foodsharing.de.

It runs like this

  • You ask when the fair divisor has open.
  • Go and see the offer and take with you what you need.
  • A friendly thank you is enough!
  • Of course you can also collect things at home and bring them to the fair divider. (eg expired but impeccable food and goods).

What it brings

  • You save money.
  • Help protect the environment (because you use this offer).
  • Get to know new people.
  • You may also volunteer there, if you feel called to do so.

Who is allowed to use the fair dividers?

  • Everyone!

It would be important to mention, only to take food in quantities that you can really eat. Be fair and leave something for other people too. In the shop, you would not buy 10 packs of biscuits. ;-) There are constantly new products in the fair divider, it is none too short!

PS: In the photos are vegetables and fruits as you can see them in some fair dividers to see.
