Reader for the visually impaired and good translators abroad

Through my friends, I experience it again and again, how difficult a visually impaired person without human support in restaurants, museums and traveling on and often avoiding ventures, because you just do not always want to address strangers. Therefore, I hope to be able to help with this tip.

Many smartphones / iPhones already have the reading function today. Even older people are becoming more and more interested in technology.

Sure, you can take pictures of things and zoom in, but especially people with strong eyesight know how exhausting it is for the eyes when you have to read longer texts so.

There are z. For example, the app "Eyescanner" converts your photos into OCR and then you can have the texts read to you with the reading function. This is also available as a lite version.

What I think is great is Google Translator. Please do not laugh, but we were already four for a smartphone and have let us read the foreign text. Just take a photo using Google Translator, mark everything and have it read out and translated.

Really great was the z. In China, for example, in restaurants with Chinese writing. Or we stood in the pharmacy and had talked to Google with Google and also discovered bargains.

Also, there are not everywhere in museums audioguides, or if only for a lot of money and mostly then only tells what is on the boards. Often, the museum guards allow one to take pictures when one says that one can not read the texts as normally.

I know that it is often difficult to overcome the need to address other people and ask for help. Especially abroad.

But hey, think about how many people are running around with smartphones, taking pictures of everything. No one thinks about it anymore.
