Recipe onion cake from the plate

Now it's autumn, Federweisser time and with it the time for a tasty onion cake!

For the dough

Ingredients dough:


  • 500g flour
  • 60 g margarine (or butter)
  • 1 egg (size M)
  • 1/4 l of milk
  • 1 cube of yeast
  • 1 pinch of salt

Preparation of the dough:

  1. Put flour, fat, 1 egg and salt in a bowl. (I always sift the flour).
  2. Heat milk (do not cook!), Dissolve yeast in it.
  3. Knead with the rest of the ingredients, leave covered in a warm place. Approximately 30 minutes (I let the dough go until the onions are peeled and this takes longer)

For covering

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 kg of onions
  • 400 g bacon (bacon cubes)
  • 300 g grated Gouda (who likes more .... I take free schn ....)
  • 250 g creme fraiche
  • Pepper, cumin (I do not like grains take ground), marjoram.
